Experiencias de intercambio

Nuestra facultad!

Hola, les compartimos la experiencia de Michelle Lightfoot, una estudiante estadounidense que nos estuvo acompañando durante el semestre 2013-1 e hizo dos meses de rotación médica en el Hospital San Vicente, asociado a nuestra Facultad de medicina UdeA:

"I completed two one-month clinical rotations at Hospital San Vicente de Paul in February and March 2013, one in Infectious Diseases on the HIV/TB service and the other in Endocrinology. On both of these rotations the teaching was excellent and everyone on the service was incredibly welcoming. The patient population is distinct from that which students typically see in the HMS hospitals, which is a major benefit of the exchange. Both because many patients present later in their disease course, and because there is more emphasis placed on the physical exam as a diagnostic tool, I also had ample opportunity to hone my physical exam skills. And though patients can be very ill when they arrive to the hospital, San Vicente had many resources to offer and the physicians practice a high level of evidence-based medicine, which provides a direct benefit to the patients and a great environment for students to learn in. In addition, Medellín is a great metropolitan city to live in. I had a wonderful time getting to know the city and the sites around Medellín, as well as other parts of Colombia. I would definitely recommend the exchange to future students; it is a wonderful chance to learn a great deal of medicine while improving on your Spanish language abilities and working with a great team of students, residents and attending physicians."

En Harvard!

Elsy Margarita Bitar, médica recién egresada de la Universidad de Antioquia, nos comenta brevemente su experiencia de Intercambio en la Universidad de Harvad durante el período 2013-1:

"Hice 2 meses de rotación en Boston, Estados Unidos, en intercambio con la Universidad de Harvard. En el primer mes (Abril) rote en Children's Hospital Boston en Radiología Pediátrica, en Mayo roté en Cirugía Plástica Infantil en el mismo hospital. Fue una experiencia maravillosa, conocí doctores e investigadores que escriben los artículos de los que nosotros estudiamos en Colombia, tengo una nueva imagen de la medicina y un nuevo punto de vista de lo que hacemos bien y de las cosas que podemos mejorar en nuestro país. También tuve un poco de tiempo para recorrer la ciudad y para conocer algunos de los lugares en los que se ha hecho historia, específicamente la Universidad de Harvard y sus alrededores. Me alegra mucho haber tenido la oportunidad de realizar este intercambio, y espero que la Universidad de Antioquia pueda seguir brindando ayuda a los próximos estudiantes que quieran seguir nuestros pasos"
